Creating a Terrarium
Recreate the feeling of being more alive that comes with spending time in nature by adding a beautiful, lush terrarium to your home. Terrariums are easy to maintain and the green plants and chic container will add new energy and style to your space.
Supplies List:
Terrarium plants that thrive in similar environments. Cacti and succulents do best in high-light environments while ferns and ivy do better in higher humidity, filtered light environments.
Glass planting container, which can be a simple open glass bowl or apothecary jar or a more decorative container from a home or garden store. (NOTE: choose your container based on the type of plants you wish to grow in your terrarium. Sun-loving plants like succulents do best in open terrariums since closed/covered terrariums placed in direct sunlight reach high temperatures that will kill your plants. Ferns and other plants that thrive with indirect light and higher humidity can be placed in either open or closed containers.)
Soil – either regular potting soil or cactus/succulent soil depending on the type of plants you’re using
Small pebbles
Activated charcoal or carbon pieces (available at pet shops) – optional for open terrariums but necessary for closed terrariums to keep the soil fresh
Preserved moss
A few decorative rocks
Animal figurine (optional)
